UGDB.AVf - The Premiere Database Program for Users Groups
-----------------------------------------------------------
Written entirely in AmigaVision
---------------------------------
What began as a simple little database program for our users group,
primarily designed to hold our mailing list and print labels, has grown into a
full-blown application that provides not only names and addresses, but
hardware choices and application interests of the users as well.
There are modules for the usual Add, Delete, and Update operations, as well
as a full-blown Search facility, allowing you to search by almost every field
in the database. There are label- and report-printing subroutines, with
provisions to print single records or the entire database (for both labels and
reports). Reports can also be printed from within the Search module.
The program uses a number of hires, interlaced, overscan screens which have
been customized with our users group name and acronym. Feel free to load
these into a paint program and change them to suit your own needs. All I ask
is that you leave my credits in the program. I've spent about a month and a
half designing and testing this application, and I'm making it available to
all other groups and/or individuals at no charge, as an example of what is
possible with AmigaVision and its database capabilities.
A sample database file has been included, but it only contains one record -
mine. If you or your group decides to make use of this application, in any
way, all I ask in return is that you include my record in your files, and add
me to your mailing list for newsletters or whatever your group sends out. In
other words, enroll me as a member of your group. That's not asking too much,
is it?
One more thing - this program uses some fonts that are not part of the
normal Workbench 1.3 distribution disks. Since the program's displays are
tailored to these fonts, I have included them on this disk. To use them,
copy them into your FONTS: directory. I have provided ".font" files for these
particular fonts, but you probably should run FixFonts before attempting to
use them. FixFonts will rebuild the ".font" files to accurately reflect
exactly which fonts are in each directory.
If, at this point, you have no idea what I'm talking about, feel free to
give me a call, or contact someone in your users group who is familiar with
how AmigaDOS works, and how the fonts must be set up.
Constructive criticisms, comments, and other feedback should be sent to:
